For decades, graduates have asked companies to stop using ordering tactics. They are being ignored. The result: most graduates do not order.
When sales plummet, companies close. First came the closure of industry leader Jostens. Now, global giant Lifetouch (Prestige) is closing its Canadian operations. Others have closed. More will follow.
Our Industry is Evolving
If your school photographer is still using the manipulative tactics listed below, they have failed to change with the times. Because they cling to outdated tactics their closure is not just a possibility, it's a matter of time.
Here are the ordering tactics that graduates and their loved ones are tired of dealing with.
Do As You're Told
Through packages, graduates are told what they can order. Want an 8×10 instead of 24 wallets? Too bad.
The Freedom Fee
Graduates can order what they want. The catch? They'll pay 3 to 5 times more for the privilege. Freedom is the bait. Spending more is the trap.
Thanks for Your Donation
To secure contracts, companies offer a "commission" back to the school. To cover that cost, they simply raise their prices again. Graduates pay the bill.
